Modeling the wetting behavior of grinding wheels

چکیده
Abstract Helical flute grinding is an important process step in the manufacturing of cylindrical cemented carbide tools where use cooling lubricants a defining factor determining performance. Finding optimal parameters and conditions for efficient lubricant essential reducing energy consumption controlling properties boundary zone like residual stresses. Any mathematical model describing interactions between wheel, workpiece during has to account complex microstructure wheel; however, this renders identification slip or heat exchange coefficients numerically prohibitively expensive. In paper, results from oil droplet experiments are compared with simulation wetting behavior wheels. More specifically, finite element simulations thin-film equation used identify different wheel specifications (grain size, bonding structure, status). Our show that both grain size have influence on behavior. The we identified fluid-microstructure will be effectively those more 3D fluid-dynamic via Beavers-Joseph condition.

Study on Experimental and Modeling of Rotary Roll Dressing of Grinding Wheels
Two of the important parameters in grinding operation are surface roughness of the workpiece and the amount of consumed energy. These parameters are strongly affected by the condition of grinding wheel surface which is dependent on the dressing parameters. Predicting the roughness of the grinding wheel surface after dressing with known dressing parameters can improve the grinding process. Resea...
متن کاملAssessment of Working Conditions of Grinding Wheels in the Grinding Process of Hard-To-Cut Materials
Abstract This study here by presents a method for comparative assessment of grinding wheels during the grinding process of hard-to-cut materials. The method in question consists of carrying out a short grinding cut in plunge grinding kinematics using grinding wheels with a customized macro-geometry upon the active surface. The work presents examples of this method’s efficacy when applied to the...
متن کاملThe coolant penetration in grinding with segmented wheels—part 1: mechanism and comparison with conventional wheels
This paper aims to study the mechanism of coolant penetration into a wheel-work contact zone when a segmented or conventional wheel is used in surface grinding. Based on the principles of fluid motion and considerations of spin-off and splash, analytical models for both conventional and segmented wheels were developed for predicting the power of pumping coolant into the contact zone. It was rev...
متن کاملIn-Process Electrical Dressing of Metal-Bonded Diamond Grinding Wheels
A new development of hybrid in-process electrical dressing of metal-bonded diamond grinding wheels is proposed in this paper. The electrical dressing method is used for overcoming the limitations of the conventional dressing methods available in relation to a super-abrasive wheel because of the hardness of its abrasive grains and the durability of its bonding material. The proposed hybrid in-pr...
متن کاملGrinding of Microstructures in Brittle Materials with Multiple Microprofiled Grinding Wheels
INTRODUCTION The manufacturing of complex shaped microstructures on microsystem parts in brittle materials provides a high geometrical accuracy [1]. This requirement can only be met by using microgrinding processes. There, metal bonded diamond grinding tools offer a remarkable potential due to their favorable wear behavior [2]. However, the dressing of complex microprofiles on these tools is no...
